WHAT IS WITCHCRAFT?
While strongly associated with crooked-nose women flying around on a broom chanting curses, witchcraft is still very misunderstood. The biggest misconception in my opinion is, that it should be categorized. Just like people, witchcraft comes in all possible forms, and new ways of practicing it are constantly developed. It can be something as small as burning a candle or having a cup of tea/coffee, to a bigger ritual possibly not performed as often as the previous example.
To me, witchcraft isn’t just actions and items. It is a state of mind, a lifestyle. To me, it is confidence, tranquility of mind, connection to nature and your spiritual self, and everything in between. You can be open about it, or you can keep it to yourself only. It is not a matter of belief, it is knowledge. Opening yourself to the bigger picture. Heightening your senses to things not always seen with our eyes. Witchcraft is above all, empowerment and independence.
WHY YOU SHOULD PRACTICE WITCHCRAFT?
As I mentioned before, above all witchcraft is confidence to me. It brings me solace to understand and accept that I am on this path of life for a reason. I have all the means to make my dreams come true, and I have all the means to gather the courage to do it. One doesn’t simply decide to become a witch. One simply realizes they have been one this whole time. I don’t count the craft as a religion, but it does bring a lot of the things a religion should. But there are really no rules to it. At least to me. I believe that as long as you’re not hurting anyone or anything, you are free to do as you please.
So, in all you could use witchcraft to find answers to questions. Maybe to get a “second opinion” before making decisions. To get more confident and to help believe in yourself.
HOW CAN YOU PRACTICE WITCHCRAFT?
As I previously mentioned, the craft can be something as simple as burning a candle or incense, having a cup of tea or even a simple walk in nature. It doesn’t take great efforts, and it most certainly does not require buying anything. Collecting things from nature is also a great way to do that. You can also make your own items, such as talismans and protective symbols, etc. Witchcraft is also about using your imagination and following your intuition.
