I’m the kind of person, that if something upsets me in the morning, it might even affect the entire rest of my day.
I’m definitely not a morning person, and more closer to a viper than a Care Bear if treated wrong in the morning.
I need to wake up first, before anyone starts talking to me, and if someone picks a fight in the morning…
But if I’m not in the mood of wanting to wallow in my misery, as sometimes one does for I am merely a human (read: a witch), what do I do to cheer myself up?
- GOOD MUSIC
Good music usually does the trick for anything, actually.
Tune in your favorite bands/artists and forget all about your worries and things that annoy you.
If you really wanna be a geek with this, you might even create playlists for every mood.
I hear people actually do that.
I might try that.
Not today, though.
2. GOOD FOOD
If you don’t eat your breakfast, we can’t be friends.
Who skips a meal?
I mean, it’s food.
If I had the time, I’d do at least two breakfasts like a proper Hobbit 😉
3. GOOD THOUGHTS/DISTRACTIONS
Whether you do it like me; start practising your acting chops and perform a monologue (or an entire movie if you think you can pull it off); and distract yourself completely off your bad mood.
Some people think of three things they’re grateful for.
I am grateful for Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom in Pirates of the Caribbean.
That’s actually all I need.
Not even sorry.
4. GOOD MOVIE/TV-SHOW
If this misfortunate event (unfortunately common for a non-morning-person) takes place on a day-off, such as weekend, you might wanna switch on Netflix.
There is no better cure than Captain Hook from Once Upon A Time or Lincoln from The 100 to save a bad day.
Or a surprisingly insightful chick flick like How to Be Single.
For a nerd like me a fantasy movie like The Lord of the Rings will always do the trick.
Or if you’re a little twisted like me, nothing brings color to a dull life like a well-crafted villain such as Loki from Thor 😉
5. GOOD DASH OF COMMON SENSE
Aside from a good excuse to eat something good, or Netflix until sunrise, I suppose the grown-ups we are, we have to ask ourselves:
Why am I upset?
Am I tired?
As we’ve identified the source, we have to decide whether it’s actually a good reason to be upset about.
Usually, it isn’t.
And to make it worse, we usually take it out on people who don’t deserve it.
We must try not to, and if we do, we must make amends.
Because at the end of the day, we don’t have the right to ruin someone else’s day.
We are responsible for our own lives, choices and words.
And next time we’re angry, we need to take a moment, before saying something we might not mean.

After all that deep talk, I hate to break the moment, but don’t I look like I’m going to a witchy boarding school in my uniform.
This pose is so…
Look at it.
I actually kind of like it, though… 😉
What are your tricks for cheering up?
